Mentoring
Chair:
BIomediCal Engineering and Physiology Survival (BICEPS) is a program that allows older students to mentor and give guidance to first year students as they start the Biomedical Engineering and Physiology PhD program at Mayo Graduate School.
Outreach/Volunteering
Chair:
Our chapter works with other graduate students in Mayo Graduate School to hold outreach events for elementary aged students. Kids learn about how engineering is an integral part of medicine participating in fun demonstrations, including an ECG system, young students get a glimpse into how the body is wired.
Professional Development
We invite leaders in industry and academia to share their experiences with our students. Hearing their struggles and paths toward success will enable our student members to choose the path best for the greatest success.
Initiative For medical Equipment Sustainability (IMES)
Chair:
Initiative for Medical Equipment
Sustainability was created to consider ways in which medical technology
can be transferred to developing countries in a way that not only satisfies the
immediate needs, but that is also sustainable. We are partnering with a
public hospital in El Salvador to do this. For more information, check
out the “Projects” page!
